Hosted by School of Music staff member and local saxophonist, Reuben Derrick, this energetic and edgy concert is a one-night-only, don’t miss event! Wellington’s Stinging Nettles – Dan Beban (guitar), Tom Callwood (bass) and Christchurch’s Poltroon – Joseph McCallum (drums) Reuben Derrick (clarinet and saxophone) collide to create music in both deliberate and spontaneous ways, using conventional and extended playing techniques, traversing the raucous and the silent, combining mega melody with gritty rhythm and textures rich and expressive.
